Vostok 6

The Vostok 6 or east 6 was the firs human space flight ship to carry a woman to space. The Vostok 6 launched on the 16th June 1963 and spent 2 days, 22 hours and 50 minutes in space. The Vostok is an important part of initial research as it is important to look at a key element of her space mission, I want to look at the overall look of the space craft  to see how i would illustrate it and how it can feature in my narrative of  Valentina Tereshkova.

Below shows a photograph of the Vostok 6 in which Valentina spent her time in in. From this Valentina spent her time capturing new key research and taking photographs of the space landscapes in which helped her discover the aerosol layers in the atmosphere. So from this photograph we can see the ship made from a spherical cabin covered in strong metal and ablative material. The space ship also had three small portholes as well as external readily attennas. The atennas are a key part of the design as for most of the journey the Vostok 6 flew along side with the Vostok 5 and therefore needed to keep in communications most of the time. As well as sending communications down to earth to send details regarding location and other issues.

Moving forward I would like to create a range of reference photos which I could then develop to create a range of sketches that show the real shape and style of the structure.
