Digitally Developed Artwork
For my development of my project I wanted too experiment digitally to create texture and add more character to the lady I have been given. To do this I started developing my character in a range of thumbnail sketches which you can see on a previous post. Once I developed these sketches I chose to take it further by scanning these digitally and working on the liner and colour work. The first drawing I created was this piece above. This drawing shows Valentina as an adult after her mission into space. I felt this photo played a significant part of Tereshkova's character as it shows her sat rather proudly with her medals lined I\up against her suit jacket. It was important I kept the elements of the drawing factual with colours and look however, it was also important that I added may own style onto this. For my project I want my character and story to appeal to a younger audience to help educate the importance of women in science. Therefore I added a rather illustrative style to my drawings with Valewntina being seen with big eyes and exaggerated rosy cheeks. It is important I add these elements as it will capture the audience's attention. I like this drawing and was happy with the outcome, however when it comes to refining the illustration I will make sure try include specific details such as every single medal and it's placement. The second digital drawing I produced was based around Valentina and her teenage years when she first started parachute jumping. I particularly love this photo I found of valentines as I feel it really communicates her passion for jumping and how this developed to create the history that it did. Of course the photo seen above is in black and white therefore was open to interpretation based on colours and what could have been. However from past research I found of Valentina I was able topics out key details such as the colour of her skin, hair and eyes.
Overall I was happy with the two digital drawings I produced so far. Moving forward I would like to create a third drawing based around Valentina as a child as I truly capture her life story. I would also like top develop some landscape art that would capture valentine's environment as well as help tell the story further to the reader.
