Final Storyboard and process
After creating my developed plans and ideas for my story board i decided to work on the finalised piece that communicates the narrative for my character. In my story board i am trying to show the moment Valentina reaches space and the moment the gravity is lifted you see the worry wash from her face. In my story board i chose to work with nine panels on a landscape digital canvas. I chose to work on the landscape forma as this is what the traditional animation would be produced in to fit screen size.
I also chose to work digitally for this, as i felt it would give me the freedom to move and edit drawings around a sell as being able to layer other elements such as the background and text. I also used two main digital brushes for this piece, the outline being the 6B pencil and the underneath being a watercolour style brush to create a wash effect which would add depth and texture to the image. I feel the use of shading would help show the environment and inform the viewer into how the drawings could be developed into a real animated drawing.
After finishing the mockup and did still edit some of the panels for example, i changed the expose of Valentina in the 7th panel to show her floating on the front, i chose to change this as i felt it looked more realistic and connects to the next frame when she is seen floating towards the window.
Overall, I am really happy with how my drawings came out and feel it really tells the story and situation i was trying to show withi my work. I felt after taking some suggestions and feedback from lecturers i decided to really focus on the expressions of Valentina as it is an important element to show how she was feeling in those moments and the minute she reaches the loss of gravity and knowing she has reached er destination in space. Below i included a range of screenshots during the process showing the order in which i built up the layers, the brushes used and also the text i chose and how i included it using my software. It was unusual for me use a digital formatted text within this project as usually i like to create my own calligraphy using the digital brushes, however for this i wanted to use a text that appeared smart and clear.
