Moving Image and Life drawing- Value Range

Above shows the first illustration for my value range task. In this image you can see it is unfinished this is due to lack time however, I feel it does communicate the ideas it needs to to show the specific use of colours. But what is value range? Value range is the idea of using a limited colour palette depending on the area of the painting. This gives the painting or drawing distance and form For example thyme background should have the narrowest range of color as it is less visible to the eye to distinguish between the tones whilst the foreground should have the widest ranger as we are likely to see the detail within the colours.

Above is an example of this showing how it can be used to created a realistic landscape. However, for the second illustration the idea was to keep the range the same however change the colors around. For example traditionally thew background colours would be the lightest and foreground colours have the darker tones, however, in this illustration I swapped them around making the background colours appear much darker.

In this piece I wanted to stick to an illustration simplistic style and seeing how it could be applied instead of a more traditional painterly style. I was happy with this outcome and felt I was really able to show the idea of value rang and its listed colour palette deepening on its area.
