One Day Brief Part 3- 22nd February 2021
The third and final One Day project had a theme that was very relevant to our times during this creation and was intended to highlight our personal experiences within lockdown and covid. Therefore the idea of the project was to pick five objects that we feel individual represents our time in lockdown. To Strat this project I began by creating a mind map of different object ideas as seen on my sketchbook page below. I also collected a range of still life style illustrations from Pinterest that I felt inspired me and could help;p when its cam got developing my own piece.
Once I had created my mind map and looked for inspiration I began by sketching different thumbnails of the objects from my ideas, I felt this was an important element so of my development as it allowed me to the look at the different objects and how they would sit beside each other when drawn. To create these I simply used a fine liners and pencil to help capture fine details and the marks of the rough sketch. I felt this looked effective and helped during the initial process.
Once I had finished my sketchbook thumbnails I decided to arrange these objects before taking a photo for reference if needed. It helped displaying the object in front of me in person as it allowed em to practise to drawing from life whilst allowing me to truly capture the organic look of there piece.
Above shows my piece mid process. I decided to work digitally and I felt it would work well to create that moderns till life look. In this piece you can really see my rough under sketch as well as the decision off colour palette which mark the upper part of the illustration. For the rest of the piece I began to colour in the object giving them life snd really showing the viewer there atmosphere which they help create. I intended to continue this completed style of illustration for there whole illustration, however once receiving feedback for this piece it was suggested that I left elements unfinished as the contrast between he under sketch and the detailed colours worked well and told more about the objects.
Above shows my final piece for my open day project, Once hearing feed back from my lecturers I decided to jkee-[ top the idea of unfinished sketches. Therefore I added some more details adding texture to the shapes. I also added some other background elements such as fairy lights and pictures that sit behind. I chose to add these as I felt the added to the empty space without looking too overwhelming to the whole drawing.
Overall I was really happy weighty this chasm out, it wads defiantly something that as different from my style as I wasn't used to combining the two different styles however, I was happy to get out my comfort zone and see how these worked together. If I was to change any elements I would have added some detail not he record may showing who I was playing as this adds more to the object and the reasoning behind my pick.
